Bodywork for Babies
All babies deserve Bodywork!
With guided hands, bodywork offers a gentle way to locate and ease:
body strains left over from being held tight in the womb and during the birthing process
breastfeeding struggles and management of tongue ties
colic; reflux; constipation; digestive uneasiness
irritability; self-regulation; sensory modulation
torticollis and misshapen heads
This sweet baby is 2.5 weeks old, painful latch for mom, diagnosed with tight oral tissues, gassy, only pooping every 3 days, body tightness (look at her c-curve to the right with all those baby wrinkles, chin tucked to chest, and tight hips).
Second picture is after just one bodywork session; she pooped during the drive home, ate a full bottle and slept for 4 hours. Her body was able to relax!
There are two way of being…
TIGHT or LOOSE
There is a false assumption that babies “grow out” of these issues and “waiting to see” should be replaced with sound intuition and knowledge from practitioners all over the world doing amazing work to help babies self-regulate physical function.
Retained compressions and body strains from being in the womb or from the birthing process may not always correct from their own stretches and movements. It is common that many babies have some area that could use some assistance.
A baby’s task is self-regulation, followed by learning to eat, interact with the environment through their senses, move their bodies, bond emotionally with caregivers, and develop play skills. Any retracted tissues in the body can interfere with your baby maturing these tasks efficiently, especially during the forth trimester (12 weeks after birth). - Susan Vaugh Kratz
